Richard Strozzi-Heckler, PhD, is President of Strozzi Institute, The Center for Leadership and Master. He has a PhD in psychology and a sixth-degree black belt in aikido, and is the author of six books including the national bestseller, In Search of the Warrior Spirit.

Coaching Approach

The body is central to Richard Strozzi-Heckler’s coaching practice. In his coaching he works with the self, the whole person, through the body. He asks clients to commit to practices that allow them to embody new skills and behaviors, something entirely different from having an insight or a cognitive understanding.

The main premise of Richard’s coaching approach is that the self is the leader’s primary source of power. Working through the body, he coaches executives and senior management toward a leadership self that fulfills both business and personal commitments. The goal is that they become someone who can take actions that were previously unavailable to them.

Richard’s clients are generally CEO’s and senior management; emerging leaders on a strong upward trajectory; or the immediate teams of the individuals he has coached. The design of the program and goals are decided through a mutual process.
